Add Custom Domain to Docs Portal

Overview

Publishing documentation under your own domain strengthens brand identity and professionalism. This workflow guides you through the technical setup required to point a GoDaddy-hosted domain to your Docs Portal. The process involves two key phases: first, you'll enter your custom domain in trybrowzer.com and receive DNS configuration details; second, you'll add those DNS records to your GoDaddy domain control panel and verify ownership via one-time password. Once complete, your documentation will be accessible at your custom domain.

Before you begin

  • Active trybrowzer.com account with Docs Portal already created and accessible
  • Domain registered with GoDaddy (or transferred to GoDaddy) and accessible via dcc.godaddy.com
  • GoDaddy account login credentials and access to the domain control panel (dcc.godaddy.com)
  • The custom domain name you wish to use (e.g., docs.example.com)
  • Access to receive and enter one-time passwords for domain verification

Step by step

1
ClickDomain

Navigate to the Domain field on trybrowzer.com to begin the custom domain setup process.

Step 1
2
TypeDomain

Enter your custom domain name (e.g., docs.example.com) into the Domain field.

Tip. Type the full subdomain you want to use. If you only own example.com but want to serve docs at docs.example.com, enter the full 'docs.example.com' here.
3
ClickSave

Click the Save button to register your domain with trybrowzer.com and generate the required DNS configuration.

Step 3
4
Clickd335557c6dd6fa44.vercel-dns-016.com

Click the DNS record value button (displayed as d335557c6dd6fa44.vercel-dns-016.com or similar) to copy it for use in GoDaddy DNS configuration.

Tip. This button is clickable and typically copies the value to your clipboard automatically. If it doesn't, you can select and copy it manually.
Step 4
5
Switch Tab

Switch to the GoDaddy domain control panel (dcc.godaddy.com) in a separate browser tab to access your domain's DNS settings.

Tip. Keep both trybrowzer.com and GoDaddy tabs open so you can reference the DNS value while configuring GoDaddy.
6
ClickAdd New Record

Click the 'Add New Record' button in GoDaddy to begin creating a new DNS record for your custom domain.

Step 6
7
ClickType*

Click the 'Type' dropdown menu and select the appropriate DNS record type (typically CNAME or TXT, as specified by trybrowzer.com).

Tip. trybrowzer.com will have indicated which type to use. CNAME is most common for custom domains; if unsure, check the DNS record value you copied earlier or the instructions on trybrowzer.com.
Step 7
8
ClickName*

Click the 'Name' field to enter the subdomain prefix (e.g., 'docs' if your full domain is docs.example.com).

Step 8
9
TypeName*

Type the subdomain prefix into the 'Name' field. For example, if your custom domain is docs.example.com, enter 'docs'.

Tip. Do not include the full domain or trailing dot unless GoDaddy's interface specifically requires it.
10
ClickValue*

Click the 'Value' field to focus it, preparing to enter the DNS record value provided by trybrowzer.com.

Step 10
11
TypeValue*

Type or paste the DNS record value (e.g., d335557c6dd6fa44.vercel-dns-016.com) into the 'Value' field.

12
Keyboard

Use Cmd+V (on Mac) or Ctrl+V (on Windows) to paste the DNS value you copied from trybrowzer.com, ensuring accuracy and avoiding manual entry errors.

Tip. This keyboard shortcut is faster and more reliable than typing the value manually.
Step 12
13
ClickSave

Click the Save button in GoDaddy to commit the DNS record configuration.

Warning. DNS record changes may take several minutes to propagate across the internet. Do not assume the domain is ready to verify immediately after saving.
Step 13
14
ClickContinue & Verify

Click the 'Continue & Verify' button in GoDaddy to proceed with domain ownership verification.

Step 14
15
ClickOne-time Password

Click the 'One-time Password' field to focus it and prepare to enter the verification code GoDaddy has sent you.

Step 15
16
TypeOne-time Password

Enter the one-time password you received from GoDaddy (typically via email or SMS) into the field to verify your domain ownership.

Tip. Check your email inbox and spam folder for the verification code. The code is usually time-limited (e.g., valid for 10 minutes).
17
ClickVerify

Click the Verify button in GoDaddy to confirm your one-time password and complete ownership verification.

Step 17
18
Switch Tab

Switch back to the trybrowzer.com tab to finalize the domain verification on the documentation platform.

19
ClickVerify Domain

Click the 'Verify Domain' button on trybrowzer.com to confirm that the DNS configuration is correct and activate your custom domain for your Docs Portal.

Tip. If verification fails immediately, DNS records may not have propagated yet. Wait 5–10 minutes and try again. Full propagation can take up to 48 hours.
Step 19

Confirm it worked

  1. 1After entering the domain on trybrowzer.com, you should see a DNS record value displayed (in the format d335557c6dd6fa44.vercel-dns-016.com or similar) that you will copy to GoDaddy
  2. 2After adding the DNS record in GoDaddy, the 'Save' button confirms the record was created successfully
  3. 3After entering the one-time password in GoDaddy, the 'Verify' button completes the ownership verification
  4. 4After clicking 'Verify Domain' on trybrowzer.com, the domain status should change to 'Verified' or 'Active', and your Docs Portal should be accessible at the custom domain
